PT. Asuransi Astra Buana to enhance employee appraisal process and career development with SunFish HR

December 2005, Jakarta – DataOn announces that its SunFish HR solution was chosen to be implemented at a leading Indonesian insurance company, PT. Asuransi Astra Buana. SunFish HR will automate, streamline and better support the insurer’s regular employee appraisal process and career path management.

Established in 1956 as PT Maskapai Asuransi Buana, the company became PT. Asuransi Astra Buana (AAB), after PT. Astra International became the major shareholder.  Rapidly growing over the past few years ABB is now one of the largest general insurance companies in the country and has 29 offices across Indonesia, representatives as well as distribution points and employs over 900 people with an additional 500 agents.  AAB offers a complete range of products from motor vehicle, fire and property, marine cargo, to personal accident insurance policies to over 2.5 million customers.

Making customer satisfaction the key principle of their operation AAB received the ISO 9001 certification in 1997 for implementing a quality management system, which was upgraded to ISO 9001:2000 in 2003. ABB’s commitment to customer satisfaction through high quality internal processes earned the company in 2001 and 2002 credit as “The Best General Insurance” from Investor magazine.

The company’s evolving business and high quality standards prompted it to update its internal HR processes. Following ABB’s goal to provide “Peace of mind” to their customers, they wanted to provide the same to their employees by supporting them pro-actively and fairly in their career development and last but not least to maximize the human resource potential for the mid and long-term benefit of the company. 

The software evaluation started three months ago comparing 10 HR system providers, including both local and internationally known brands in terms of comprehensiveness of features.  At the end of the initial evaluation 3 vendors scored a similar result and were once more scrutinized in respect of ABB’s requirements of the HR solution:

DataOn’s SunFish HR was chosen over the two other vendors for its implementation experience and customer satisfaction with the software and support as well as the total costs of ownership.

Once implemented SunFish HR will strengthen ABB’s overall HR process structure, especially their appraisal and employee career development management to better satisfy and more easily retain their employees.
