Established in 1974, PT Tira Austenite Tbk. (referred to as Tira Austenite) started its business activities as trading company with a focus as distributor, and licensed sole agent for high quality, specialized products of technical machineries from Europe. The company represents leading European Enterprises including Industeel of France, Netherlands-based ODS and Messer of Germany.
Quickly growing, Tira Austenite expanded its trading business to manufacturing and became a public enterprise in 1993 with its shares subsequently listed on Jakarta Stock Exchange. Today, Tira Austenite has 11 branches and 3 representatives throughout Indonesia, and 5 affiliated companies PT Tira Andalan Steel, PT Alpha Austenite, PT. Tanah Sumber Makmur, PT Tekun Asas Sumber Makmur and PT Genta Laras Semesta; altogether employing over 900 people.
When the company faced a change in management it decided to renew most of its business process structures including their HR policies and standard HR operating procedures (SOP). With the help of a HR consultant, Tira Austenite mapped and reconstructed their management of HR information and administration and added strategic objectives such as placing employees? competencies with the right position, retaining and developing the best employees to their new HR structure. In that process, the company realized that in order to execute the new HR policies and SOPs, they would need a compatible HR system automating many administrative and information gathering functions as well as supporting strategic functions such as competency management, performance evaluation, training, and recruitment.
Scrutinizing several HR solutions by local and international vendors over many months the final decision was made for SunFish HR because of:
o Reasonable price and low Total Cost of Ownership
o Robust features
o Flexibility for future changes
o Strong local support
o Strong client base in similar industries
The implementation of SunFish HR will be commenced in two phases. In phase one of the project, the emphasis is on the automation of the informative and administrative HR tasks including Personnel Management, Time & Attendance Recording and Payroll. These functions are required to be rolled out immediately in order to improve the efficiency and speed of processing payroll as well as ensuring always correct results.
At the same time Tira Austenites HR consultant will conceptualize and specify the detailed requirements for the strategic features. Once such specifications are fully determined they will be implemented into the system in a second phase. At the completion of this phase Tira Austenite will have the right tools to track whether the right person occupies the right position by comparing individual skills vs. required position qualifications, identifying qualification discrepancies, and close gaps through training or repositioning. Thus, the new HR solution will ensure Tira Austenite achieves its most pursued target, which is that the company?s future growth is led by the right people.
