Bank BTPN starts innovation of their HR Management processes with SunFish HR Payroll
January 2006, Jakarta – DataOn announces that PT. Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional (short BTPN) has become the latest client for its SunFish HR Payroll Edition. With 3000 employees allocated over 60 branches all over Indonesia, the bank faced challenges to track all records and calculate payroll and incomes taxes properly. The need for innovating the way they manage their HR through automation of related processes with software was readily apparent.
However, since supporting their HR structures with software is a new undertaking for the bank, the management was looking for an easy-to-use and low risk HR system that addresses their most urgent need for employee information tracking, correct payroll calculation and accurate tax payments calculation. User-friendliness was another important requirement as the bank will use the system to gradually automate HR for their entire operations throughout Indonesia, eventually extending the system to other HR areas such as performance evaluation, training, and recruitment.
BTPN was established in 1958 in Bandung by 7 military veterans as an organization, later called BAPEMIL, with the purpose of lending money to fellow service men and veteran members and accumulating their savings. Although, the organization’s main intention was to provide relief from economical burden among veterans their services were also widely used by the general public.
The high public trust led, in 1986, to the establishment of PT Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional, which operated then under Bank Tabungan (Savings Bank) in order to obey the banking regulation (Banking ordinance No. 14 year 1967). As the banking regulations changed in 1992 and 1998 the organization changed from a Savings Bank to a Private Bank with the business remaining the same.
The bank expanded their business after merging with PT. Taspen to also include services such as deposits for retirement, Jamsostek payment and retirement fund management. When the set up is completed and all parameters are defined, SunFish HR Payroll will provide the backbone for BTPN’s new chapter of personnel management and innovate the bank’s HR operating procedures. One single platform will automate and track the payroll management of 3000 employees with time and attendance, leave, overtime records, reimbursements as well as employee tax information, approval processing, and tax reporting and ensure that the correct payments are made to both the employees and the government. The system will invigorate the existing HR operations as process efficiency in every HR Management area will significantly increase, become transparent and allow HR workers to focus on advanced strategic goals rather then administration. The software’s flexibility will also allow adapting BTPN’s future growth as a company and into other HR aspects.
