PT. Sompo Japan Insurance Indonesia implements SunFish HR
May 2007, Jakarta – DataOn announces that PT. Sompo Japan Insurance Indonesia has decided to implement the Enterprise edition of SunFish to replace their existing payroll system and extend their HR to a fully integrated management solution covering not only administrative but also strategic planning tasks.
A subsidiary of Sompo Japan Insurance Inc., PT. Sompo Japan Insurance Indonesia was established in 1978 to provide mostly general and non-life insurances such as accident, health, medical insurances, etc. to Japanese companies in Indonesia.
The company became interested in SunFish HR when visiting DataOn’s HR seminar “Sustainable Cost Reduction through Human Resource Process Automation” in September 2006. The seminar convinced the insurer’s staff to seek a HR solution that would allow the company to handle the administration of their over 100 employees more efficiently and to support them with the implementation of competency based performance evaluations to address strategic personnel planning issues. Once the HR system requirements were established, PT. Sompo Japan Insurance Indonesia began the vendor evaluation process in early 2007. DataOn’s SunFish HR was selected because it was the only complete - with all HR management aspects integrated – including the solutions from employee information and payroll to strategic functions such as performance evaluation, employee development through training, as well as recruitment.
Once implemented SunFish HR Enterprise will not only significantly improve the payroll processing efficiency and accuracy but also take the insurer’s HR management to the next level by allowing it a holistic approach to HR by including important strategic development and planning functions. With its new HR solution the insurances company will go beyond traditional human resource activities to develop a strong personnel strategy that aligns the insurer’s long-term plan with the value their employees offer.
A competency-based evaluation frame will be used for measuring individual competencies and skills in order to make transparent the knowledge and potential within the company. This information will enable PT. Sompo Japan Insurance Indonesia to perform individual and organizational analysis, in order to develop employee careers, to identify and close position gaps, to better channel training programs and optimize training spending as well as to improve the company’s recruitment practice. With SunFish HR PT. Sompo Japan Insurance Indonesia will have a clearer picture where it is today and where it can be in the future.
