PT. BFI Finance Indonesia Tbk. optimizes core HR operations with SunFish in order to create basis for strategic direction
August 2008, Jakarta – DataOn announces that PT. BFI Finance Indonesia Tbk. (short BFI) is going to implement SunFish HR in order to manage its 2000 employees (and growing) allocated over 64 branches throughout Indonesia. This decision comes after a long and thorough vendor evaluation process, in which BFI compared many local and international HR providers in terms of functionality, implementation services, local regulation’s compliance, and price.
Originally established in 1982 as a joint venture between PT Manufacturers Hanover Leasing Indonesia and Indonesian shareholders, the company initially operated as a Leasing company. The granting of a "Multi Finance" license in 1990 widened its scope of activities to do leasing, consumer financing and factoring activities. To reflect this new status the name was changed to PT Bunas Finance Indonesia and later in May 1990, BFI went public on the Jakarta Stock Exchanged and Surabaya Stock Exchange respectively.
Financial restructurings during 1998 – 2000 resulted in BFI becoming an independent finance company with strong balance sheets, capable professionals and wide business networks to pursue new business opportunities in Indonesia. BFI's business emphasis shifted to second hand cars for productive and commercial use, particularly in Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) and small individual entrepreneur. This strategy worked and still works successfully as the company’s growth to over 60 branches and 2000 employee throughout Indonesia shows.
BFI’s management is keen for its HR to take on a more strategic role and get into areas important for the growth of the company including employee performance analysis and appropriate compensation and development as well as skilled labor recruitment. In that context, they realized the company needed a platform for efficiently processing fundamental HR tasks as well as integrating all locations in one system first, before addressing the strategic issues.
Therefore BFI will now start to implement SunFish’s operational and administrative modules to drive process automation and standardization throughout the entire company. The strategic modules will follow later next year once users are familiar with the new system and workflows and thanks to an improved processing efficiency had time to globally think about strategic concepts they want to realize with SunFish.
