Sinar Alum Sarana upgrades its business processed for PPIC and MRP
Jakarta, June 2009 – PT. Sinar Alum Sarana (short SAS)- leading manufacturer of aluminum components in Indonesia, supplying the car and motorcycle as well as the many other industries – is currently upgrading its existing SunFish Suite to include the latest version of the SunFish ERP production module.
SAS is using a SunFish Suite combining Human Resource and Supply Chain Management in on one application since 2005. Since then the company has been benefiting from the instant access to data of all their business units and department; the optimization of core processes and flows as well as improved cooperation and information exchange between all integrated divisions.
Wanting to overhaul their existing production management and planning structures, SAS contacted DataOn to review which developments and amendments DataOn’s SunFish ERP has undergone since 2005 in this area. After testing the new production module and its interactions with other modules, DataOn and SAS assessed the deviations between the standard module and the manufacturer’s production flow in order to specify the areas of customization. Feeling that the standard Production features combined with the adjustments to the company’s special requirements will provide them with the solution they need, the SAS management decided to go ahead with the upgrade.
The latest version of the SunFish ERP production module will provide SAS with all the necessary tools to control and optimize their production processing. Comprehensive and timely access to sales figures and forecasts, finance and budget information, and inventory levels allows the production division to issue accurate and detailed production orders and scheduled so that unnecessary costs incurred by machine downtime can be avoided. Additionally, this synchronization between sales, inventory, material planning, and production allows SAS to keep inventory levels of raw material, work in progress and finished goods at an optimal balance.
SAS production staff especially anticipate the MRP Planning & Forecasting feature, which will assist its staff in predicting product demands not only based on received orders but also on forecasts allowing to flexibly adjust material planning accordingly. The planning can be done for finished or half-finished goods as well input materials. Based on the foreseen demand (calculated and actual combined) the MRP function emphasizes any raw material, WIP and other input needed to fulfill the demand taking into consideration the lead time to purchase or produce required materials. The material plan can be modified any time as long as it is only saved. Once the plan is confirmed user can create relevant purchase and/or production job orders to set in motion the realization of the plan.
