PT.Samick Indonesia to support its production processes with SunFish ERP

June 2012, Jakarta: PT. Samick Indonesia has begun implementing their SunFish ERP & HR business suite with which the company seeks to optimize the performance of its core operational, business, and personnel administration processes. Having grown consistently over the past 20 years to become the main producer of pianos and guitars in Indonesia, the company is determined to automate its business structures and flows, and thereby, improve insight into and control over business transactions, processes and costs in all its units for an effective operations management and decision making.

In 1992, Korean manufacturing giant Samick moved its production base to Indonesia and established subsidiary PT. Samick Indonesia to take over the production of the company?s entry-level instruments, which started in 1993 with acoustic guitars. By 1995 the facility had gained the expertise to add on the production of electric guitars, followed by upright pianos in 1996 and grand pianos in 1998. Today the factory in Cileungsi, near Bogor, employs over 3000 workers, and manufactures the majority of instruments Samick makes. It produces about half a million guitars per year, which is 90% of the guitars made in Indonesia under various names including Gibson and Fender models, as well as 15,000 pianos.
