Established in 1985 PT. Jaya Prestasi (called High Point after its most successful office furniture product range) first started its operation in the home furniture business. In 1988 the company shifted its focus to commercial office furniture and introduced High-Point® One in the market. With the success of High-Point® One, the company continued to improve and created High-Point® Five, Eight, Classé; U-Point® Two, WIL® Six and High-Com® Computer Desks. The brand High-Point® is held in high esteem by their trading partners both locally and internationally. These commitments and high standards regarding functionality, ergonomics, and design have made High Point one of the leading commercial office furniture manufacturer in South East Asia, offering its customers mature and integrated one-stop solutions.
As a market and customer orientated company, facing a market intensifying with competitors and increased competition from oversees High-Point had to learn that differtiating themselves is crucial to stay at the Top. Climbing inventory costs and lead times of several weeks wasn’t going to ensure this. Among others, it were these to facts that made the company re-focus on a lean organization to permanently drive down stock levels and delivery times.
The company turned to DataOn and asked it to jointly develop a Supply Chain System based on DataOn’s SunFish SC solution that would meet all High-Point’s individual requirements.
After 10 months the joint project was completed and High-Point began to fully utilize its supply chain solution. The new software is now the key of the company’s lean organization strategy enabling High-Point to manage a large number of complex procurement processes based on the Just In Time (JIT) concept. The solution quickly translates a sales order to a delivery order within a fully integrated sales and distribution environment giving High-Point the ability to manage hundreds of direct sales and deliveries daily. Even though the company has only used the software a short time the transparency of data and processes cut down the time of information flow enormously. With the launch of the software High-Point has already noticed a significant reduction in the time to delivery. Although early progress was strong, High-Point continues to use SunFish to fine tune processes to further reduce the time from sales order to delivery.
This target of a completely just in time process can only be realized by accurately tracking the inventory of thousands of items in multiple warehouses across Indonesia with in SCM system. The realization of real benefits by the system, regardless its short deployment, strengthen the company’s firm believe in SCM as an all-embracing concept that will show its real potential regarding substantial improvements in speed, quality, flexibility, dependability and cost in forthcoming months. Once the ambitious goals are achieved the SCM’s ability to analyze products, customers, regions and distributors visually will support the company to determine the most profitable way to develop their market share.
