FAQ to technical system requirements

What databases are required?
Our CMS solution supports first of all the MS SQL 2000 Server. On request also other ODBC compatible database platforms can be supported. Since this requires the reconstruction of the database scheme there would be additional charges.

If you have Easy CM then the package includes Hosting, menaing we will provide the database for you and you don’t need to worry about database requirements or purchasing a database if don’t have one yet.

What operating systems are supported?
SunFish/ Easy CM supports operating system platforms (web servers) as following:
- Windows NT 4.0 service package or higher
- Windows 2000
- Linux

What programming language is used?
SunFish / Easy CM is based on the scripting language Macromedia ColdFusion.

Why Macromedia ColdFusion?
ColdFusion integrates powerful Internet functions in an easy to learn an extremely productive script creation environment.

- Multi platform - By using a multi platform middleware, customers are able to easily move across different server.  This means as their requirements grow or change they will not have a problem moving servers.
- Scalability - With ColdFusion, it is very easy for customers to add additional servers as their requirements grow.
- Extensibility - Customers can use the Macromedia development tools to easily understand and enhance SunFish applications.  This means if there is a feature they need in the future, even with limited IT knowledge, it will be possible to add it.

Are other programming languages possible?
Yes. HTML scripting language is used for the template structure and article, which can be viewed in the HTML editor. Other than that I don’t know.

Do I have to install any type of software?
No. The concept of Easy CM packaging is to host the software with us, so you don’t have to bother with database, programming languages its costs of acquisition and maintenance. Moreover, Easy CM is web-based which means all contents are maintained via web browser so that editor as well as administrators don’t need to install additional software.

The CMS system is developed for the usage by non-technical users an as such we take care for all the technical details in the background while you only have to concentrate on your most important task – the management of your website.
